Inevitable Conclusion of the Day: Rule of thumb: If you’re going to name your boat Titanic II, be prepared for it to sink like a stone on its maiden voyage.
Mark Wilkinson thought he could beat the odds, but he couldn’t: The Birminghamian’s 16ft cabin cruiser took on water after busting its hull and went under like its namesake near West Bay harbour in Dorset.
“If it wasn’t for the harbour master I would have gone down with her,” Wilkinson said. “It’s all a bit embarrassing and I’m pretty fed up with people ribbing me about it.”
Then don’t name your boat Titanic II.
