Here's the truth. It's everyone's fault including yours. Everyone influenced it in some way that lead to that event. There is no single cause to that event. It just happens that the thing you blame is one of the biggest factors.
Just imagine things like an ecosystem or a cycle like the water cycle. You will see that there is no such thing as cause and effect. Just a structure where a system is built
