Harry Potter Mystery of the Day: WTF is Pottermore? That’s what Harry Potter fans are trying to figure out after J.K. Rowling sent them on a Google Street View scavenger hunt yesterday.

The quest turned up Pottermore.com and an official @pottermore Twitter account, but Rowling’s reps say it’s not what it sounds like — i.e., it’s not an announcement about new Harry Potter books.

The name “Pottermore,” the owls on the teaser site, and the Warner Bros. Harry Potter copyright notice at the bottom all point strongly to something Potter-related, though. It could be anything from a fan community to the ultimate wizarding encyclopedia to a Harry Potter MMO.
